I’m so glad I follow the Drop Dead Clothing’s site blog, or else I would have never come across my newest obsession: Canterbury. When DD! posted “Gloria,” the band’s first single, I immediately fell in love.  I’ve always had some sort of attraction to British bands, and Canterbury has just deepened my admiration. As if that’s not enough,  you can download their album, Thank You, completely FREE. That’s right, people. You read that correctly. FREE MUSIC. LEGALLY. It’s a wonderful phenomena, eh? Revolutionary, really.

So I went along and downloaded, and I was delighted to find that the whole album was filled with surprises and an overall great sound. The song styles differ a bit, which kept me interested and happy. If you appreciate bands like Envy On the Coast, Kids In Glass Houses, You Me At Six, and Tonight is Goodbye, you will eat Canterbury up. I always know my favorite tracks upon the first spin, but every time I listen to Thank You I find another song that becomes a favorite.  I believe every single song on the album has been bumped up to the top of my Canterbury playlist at least once.

So down to business. Track # 2 is called “11,12″. It is fabulously catchy and will have you singing the chorus by the second time you hear it. The song immediately after  is called “Diver”, and it is on the slower and sweeter side. It’s a really beautiful song and will definitely win over the lady listeners.

“Take Me Out of the Wall” is fast-paced alternative anthem that will have you tapping your toes and drumming the steering wheel. Once again, the variety of sound that Canterbury brings is so refreshing! My most played and most loved track is called “Hometime;” it’s passionate and provocative and powerful. I love love love it. I hope you do as well.

I really do love everything about Canterbury and their music, and I encourage you give them a chance. Seriously, their album is FREE. It’s not even a question, just go download Thank You from their website and enjoy!  Also, be sure to check out their new single “Gloria” by watching the music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ye4vDuYIvbk). “Gloria” will be available as a free download on April 5, 2010.
