Elliot Coleman has joined TesseracT
Elliot Coleman is steadily on his way to becoming a household name, not just in metal but music in general. I first learned about him when he joined Sky Eats Airplane as a bassist and backup vocals for The Sound Of Symmetry EP. Bryan Zimmerman soon departed and left Coleman as the vocalist, but unfortunately they never recorded any songs with him. Around this time I was listening to an awesome band called Of Man Not Of Machine. Random fact: the name was invented by Misha Mansoor so that they could have the acronym OMNOM. He is one clever guy. After some background research, I found out that Coleman was the frontman for this band as well, joined with Mansoor (Periphery/Bulb/Haunted Shores) and Mark Holcomb (Haunted Shores).
Soon after Sky Eats Airplane played their final show, Luis Dubuc (also of The Secret Handshake) announced that the bulk of Sky Eats Airplane will join him in his other band Of Legends, with Coleman taking over bass duties for the group. I believe it was around this time when he and Zack Ordway (guitarist for Of Legends and Sky Eats Airplane) formed yet another group, called Zelliack. It’s an awesome “soul-inspired, R&B-tinged panty-dropper” indie group that is also set to release an EP and a full length very soon. You can listen to an MEB song stream of their song “Autumn In Analog” here: http://mindequalsblown.net/2011/06/sky-eats-airplane-zelliack-song/
A few weeks ago, Coleman hinted that he won’t be on the upcoming Of Legends tour with Molotov Solution, but left out any details as to why that is (oh well, more pho for Zack, Luis and Travis then). I heard from a recent news segment that Dan Tompkins (former vocalist) left TesseracT to start his own pop group, which makes sense considering he was in a pop group before. I never once made any correlation that Coleman would be taking his place.
Although the fans are whining that Tompkins can never be replaced, I don’t think they could find a better replacement in a million years than the multi-talented Elliot Coleman. Stay tuned here on MEB for an upcoming interview with this fast rising god of modern music.
