Mind Equals Blown

A Lot Like Birds Remix Contest

You’ve already heard the brilliance that is A Lot Like Birds‘ 2011 record Conversation Piece. We can all agree that producer Kris Crummett did a hell of a job putting together one of the year’s most eclectic records.

But maybe you can do better.

We at MEB are proud to team up with Doghouse Records to bring you the official A Lot Like Birds Remix Contest. You can download the stems of EVERY track on Conversation Piece and remix ‘em to your heart’s desire. Make slight tweaks, make major changes, take out full instruments, or add whatever you want; you’re now in the band, and you can have your way with the songs.

The prize is pretty nuts:

  • The winner will have their remix featured on the deluxe release of Conversation Piece
  •  A USB with ALLB music
  • Some signed merch
  • A wolf skull

Here’s the rules:

1. Download the stems to your song of choice.
2. Remix the song and upload it to SoundCloud
3. Tweet a link to the band’s Twitter (@ALotLikeBirds) with the hashtag #ALLBREMIX

Now go play around with the trumpets in “Vanity’s Fair,” the screams in “THINK DIRTY OUT LOUD,” or the bleeps from “A Satire…” You’re only limited by your imagination.

The contest is only open to US citizens

I am a student attending The University of Florida. I spend a majority of my time listening and discovering new music. This prompted me to start the original Mind Equals Blown, in an attempt to share the amazing bands I continue to discover. I enjoy most genres of music, but lean on the heavier side of things the majority of the time. I enjoy bands that have mastered the guitar, and always love a good breakdown. When not doing music related things I enjoy losing to 12 year olds at Halo 3 and watching the Florida Gators win. I am also an expert (plastic) guitar player.
