Though autumn is here, the summer heat in Southern California is still prevalent as ever. As much as I love sitting inside and increasing the AC bill, I wish it would stop being so hot! This week, listening to my favorite summer tracks helped me beat the heat. So here are the three songs that I could not stop replaying.
1. “Do I Wanna Know?” – Arctic Monkeys
I’ve had this song on infinite loop for the past few days and I am still not tired of it. Maybe it’s Alex Turner’s sexy voice, or maybe it’s because I was way too excited for their new album AM to come out. Maybe it’s both. But either way, I am in love. If they played this song as much as they played “Blurred Lines” on the radio, then I’d probably start listening to the radio.
2. “Purple Yellow Red And Blue” – Portugal the Man
I was introduced to this song when I heard my friend listening to it on Spotify and decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did because this song is a party. The rest of their album Evil Friends is consistently excellent as well. With its sick beat and melody, you don’t have to be on drugs to be seeing purple, yellow, red and blue!
3. “Bad Girls” – M.I.A.
If you want to feel bad-ass, this is your go-to song. I don’t always listen to punk rock, but “Bad Girls” makes me feel empowered and motivated. Whether you want to rob a bank or run five miles on the treadmill, this song will give you the confidence to do so.
