Grad school has all but reduced to me to some sort of troll that only emerges from class and coffee shops for the one hour of day I don’t have work to do. That one hour a day is my Korean class. During this class I listen to a lot of K-Pop – like… a lot of K-Pop. Here’s a three of the songs that I find so catchy they haunt my dreams.
1. “Trap” – Henry
This little tune is about a man feeling trapped…. I would assume, I don’t know that much Korean yet. Regardless of your knowledge of the language, this tune is so catchy, you’ll memorize lyrics you may never understand. That piano, that buildup, and a video that can only be described as ‘decadent.’ Also, that’s way too nice a piano to be setting on fire.
2. “Alone” – Sistar
If you like Las Vegas and a dance entirely comprised of hugging yourself and doing high-knees (sometimes simultaneously) then this is the track for you. The piano and borderline funk guitar take you through a tour of Las Vegas that’ll make you think: “This is the most upbeat song called ‘Alone’ that I’ve ever heard.”
1. “Bad Girl, Good Girl” – miss A
Last but certainly not least, is this almost painfully catchy tune from miss A. I have not much in the way of comment or colorful commentary on this. Listen to it. Watch it. It will stay with you morning, noon, and night. I love K-Pop.
