This week’s theme follows a romantic format, selecting songs that attribute focus on love and similar feelings. With Valentine’s Day approaching, it seemed only appropriate to feature these songs and gather their intentions. Love is sticky and complicated, with so many obstacles it seems almost impossible. But, these songs give a general view on all of love’s characteristics and still maintain their validity. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! May love find its way into your heart!
1. “5 Years Time”- Noah And The Whale
The lightheartedness of this song matches perfectly with its silly content. A person with an overactive imagination dreams up lovely scenarios – like hand-holding, trips to the zoo, and casual laughter – that have never actually occurred. He admits to the fabrication of each event, but gives descriptive insight to love. Even with the fake situations, this song explores those tender situations people in love find themselves in, and how fantastic they are.
2. “Two Weeks In Hawaii”- Hellogoodbye
When people find themselves in love, but not loved, songs like this happen. Deep feelings of lost and passion are exposed in this tell-all format. It’s basically a confession of one party’s affection and the feelings associated with loving too much. Even feelings of loneliness are described, pursuing the negative things associated with love and feelings of great desire. It sounds traumatic to love so tragically.
3. “Twelve Feet Deep”- The Front Bottoms
The brighter tone of this song makes love sound less terrible. It includes examples of great things to be while in love and things people are willing to do for each other. It shows the lengths of human emotions and how quickly we’re driven to other people. However, it offers examples of hardships and little quirks that can turn any good thing into smut. But, overall, it’s a positive view on taking love in strides, working out the kinks, and overcoming difficulties to engross yourself in the world’s greatest wonder: love.
