It’s been downcast and grey for over a week now in NYC, so in replacement of lounging in the grass and getting kissed by the sun, I’ve been listening to some recently discovered jams in attempt to keep my motivation high and not take that second nap. Sometimes all you need is a few songs to shed some light into your life, or at least keep you going throughout the week.
Miike Snow: “Heart of Me”
This song managed to make its way into my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist. Upon clicking on it, I noticed Miike Snow had released a new album, iii, and its spectacular. If you don’t happen to give all the songs a listen, at least check out “Heart Of Me” below! It is my personal favorite song off iii – and my favorite to blast in my living room. If you need something to dance to this could be it.
Imagine Dragons: “Blank Space”
I love a good cover. It’s probably why when I find one I’ve got to share it with everyone. Here is my most recent find, and one a bit unexpected. Imagine Dragons – a band already well known for its own tunes – covering “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift. They even throw in “Stand By Me” at the end. The two combined together create a peppy duo to walk (or sway) to.
Weekender: “Floaty Feeling, Blue”
Feeling blue? Well this one’s for you. Weekender is a pop-psych group based out of Philadelphia and they just released their latest album Floaty Feeling, Blue. This song was another lucky find because it led me to the discovery of this trancelike song, titled after the album name. Feel free to get lost in the electric guitar and soft, whimsical-like voices.
