5. Glassjaw – Coloring Book EP
In the wake of one of the most anticipated releases of 2011, Glassjaw defined the early post-hardcore scene. Years later with the release of the Coloring Book EP, the passion that we know them for, and the angst, sadness, and revenge we can clearly see emitted, has all returned.
4. Thrice – Major/Minor
In a year full of comebacks, the wonder that Thrice provided with their older releases has not vanished. Speaking of hope and forgiveness, this record is a shining example that the flame that had once started, has not and most likely will never be extinguished. There is no question- get this album.
3. Touché Amoré – Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me
I feel as though a surge of passionate, deep, and real music is making its way through the layers of bullshit in the music industry right now. Touche Amore is riding that wave right now, and this record is its chariot. I’ve found amazing cathartics in this record, and if you give it a chance you will too.
2. La Dispute – Wildlife
This album is a genre-changing, beautiful work of art. When you want something real, this is it. Vocalist Jordan Dreyer and the rest of the ensemble work together to create something that, years from now, will still be changing countless lives.
1. Oh, Sleeper – Children of Fire
This album is my number one, because although it is just as powerful as the albums before it, there is something personally destructive and revitalizing about its contents. This album could change your entire perspective, or shape it into something that could be for the benefit of the world. Let me put it to you this way- if you can listen to this record and take in all its intended for, you will become a better person. Period.
