Melodrama is hands down the best pop album of the year. Lorde has created an album that captures the vigor of growing and feeling in this generation. Every song tells a story, making this album very cohesive. This album feels so alive with booming synths, cheerful pianos, and explosive choruses. Melodrama Forever!!
Brockhampton has have absolutely owned this year with the release of three studio albums. Saturation III was my favorite of the bunch. They have finally secured a distinctive sound with Saturation III. It’s grimy, groovy, and witty–everything you want in a dope hip-hop album.
Tyler returned to the scene this year with Flower Boy, an album that is so melodic and heartfelt you wouldn’t believe it’s Tyler’s brainchild. Tyler shows off his softer side with this album, it’s such a smooth listen and includes 9 features from some of his best friends which makes the album even more worth the two-year wait.
Goldlink’s sound is so individualistic due to his ability to seamlessly fuse hip-hop and electronic. At What Cost includes “Crew” and “Meditation,” which I think are some of the best hip-hop products of 2017.
Really brilliantly crafted indie rock album. It brings up many important topic such as race, sexuality, gender, and politics in a very tasteful way.
