It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since The Rocket Summer, the indie pop solo project of Bryce Avery, released the hit album Do You Feel. This past Thursday, Avery brought NYC back in time to 2007 to celebrate 10 years of Do You Feel. The show kicked off with 888, a poppy three-piece band featuring former members of the band Drop Dead, Gorgeous. The band got the crowd moving right off the bat, spreading a contagious energy throughout The Gramercy Theater.
After a fun opening set from 888, The Rocket Summer stepped on stage, wasting no time before jumping into playing Do You Feel in its entirety. The crowd, ranging from young teens to adults reliving their middle and high school years, screamed along with an energy that carried on throughout the night. Avery played nearly a two hour set filled with excitement from start to finish. The passion in the room was a beautiful reminder of how powerful music is as both an escape and a unifier among all involved.
