Jus MaRx. of LNEM (Late Night Early Mornings) spoke to Norman Galang & Mind Equals Blown about being labeled a “backpack rapper.” Although MaRx. understands the term, he said it comes with a negative stigmatism that he doesn’t wish to be a part of.
For those who aren’t up on the dude, he’s a young hearted MC who spills his adolescent love for hip-hop over boom bap production. Somewhere between Pro-Era and Logic is where you’ll find MaRx. spitting about aspirations and his musical passion.
The Gainesville rapper went on to say that despite creating more lyrically-driven music, he can still vibe with artists such as Migos and Waka Flocka Flame. MaRx. also stated that he wouldn’t mind hopping on more mainstream appealing beats, but would still like to spread a deeper message like how a J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar have done so well.
MaRx. and other LNEM members such as Ya Boy Nick Swain and Pontiac Purp will be performing at this year’s Swamp Records Showcase on February 6. Peep all the artists performing below.
