The Scoop: UK noise-rock outfit Johnny Foreigner are going to be heading to South Africa in October.
The Spin: The “Trip Over Timezones” tour will mark the band’s return to South Africa. The band have already had one successful tour of the country in 2010. This time they shall be supported by premiere UK indie-label Alcopop Records. This can mean only one thing: wild rock and roll antics shall be making its way across South Africa in October.
Ben Rausch, local visual artist, VJ and DJ will be joining the band on live visuals for all 6 dates. After performing with Johnny Foreigner on their 2010 S.A. adventure, Ben has since joined the band on 3 international tours, playing the U.S., U.K. and EU.
The seeds of this South African tour were planted when Rausch joined the band to tour their critically acclaimed new album You Can Do Better (Craig Roxburgh’s review of the album can be read here). Upon returning to South Africa, Rausch began speaking to friend and promoter Hank van der Schyf (of Not Bad/ Park Acoustics) about putting together a return tour. The result is this forth-coming 6 date trek across South Africa.
With their gleefully DIY attitudes, music scenes from Cape Town to Johannesburg rang very true with the bands own ideals. This resulted in the band falling in love with South Africa, and now they shall be reunited with their long lost love.
The tour details are as follows:
- 23 Oct – Stellenbosch – Mystic Boer
- 24 Oct – Cape Town – The Assembly
- 26 Oct – Pretoria – Park Acoustics
- 30 Oct – Johannesburg – Kitchener’s
- 31 Oct – Pretoria – Arcade Empire

Support acts are still be announced.
