2016 was a big year for multi-genre artist, K. Flay with her EP, Crush Me and a mostly sold out tour that followed. How do you follow up a year with big accolades? Well, K. Flay has announced her new album, Every Where Is Some Where will be released April 7th via Night Street/Interscope Records.
The song itself can be divided up into three parts; at first, there’s an infectious, reoccurring, and electronic 808. The pre-chorus almost has a R&B feel to it, and then it explodes into an almost punk-like frenzy. “Black Wave,” is where a little bit of electro, indie rock, and hip-hop meld together to make for a energetic first look in regards to the upcoming album.
In particular to “Black Wave,” K. Flay had this to say:
“Black Wave” is “about facing something immense and menacing and choosing not to cower, but to rise up,”
This is part of a statement that she has written on Medium that you can check out.
