The Scoop: Indie rocker Kevin Devine is currently premiering a brand new song titled “Private First Class” via our friends over at AbsolutePunk. The track comes off the one of two brand new LPs that Devine plans on self-releasing (thanks to his extremely successful Kickstarter campaign) throughout the remaining course of 2013. You can check out the song here.
The Spin: Along with the premiere, AP.net was also given an interesting little snippet of the meaning behind the new song: “Private First Class” was written about Bradley Manning, a United States Army soldier arrested on terms of suspicion of passing classified material to the online website WikiLeaks. Devine has been known to write politically driven songs, so this may not come as much of a surprise to his fan base. Still, a fairly interesting topic nonetheless.
The Question: What do you think of the song? Are you excited to hear the what the rest of the two records have to offer? Let us know in the comments below!
