Matt Pryor of The Get Up Kids has announced a Kickstarter campaign to fund the recording of his new album titled May Day. The money raised from the campaign will be used to “get it [the album] off the ground and promote it properly” and to release it independently of any label. Among the incentives to pledge money to the project is an unreleased album called Still, There’s A Light that will only be available to those that contribute.
In just a few days, the contributions have already reached $5,811 of his $10,000 pledge goal, and the limited rewards that included vinyl test pressings and two of the guitars used on the recording of the album have already being claimed.
Contributing to the cause also gains you access to a special club that gives you access to hearing the songs as they are written, and gives you a say in how the artwork for the release will turn out. The first of those new songs can be heard in the video at the top of this page.
