America’s favorite EDM artist dropped a double feature of socially conscious music videos before his sophomore album’s release next month. In a world torn apart by unrest abroad and at home, it is a wonder why more artists aren’t using their platform as leaders in a highly connected world (except for Kanye West, that is).
“For A Better Day” features vocals by Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and details a revenge plot line that’s sadly relevant in the wake of Jared Fogle’s perversions made public and ISIS’ sex slavery headlines. After watching the video twice, I have no idea what the song is about, but the images and story are powerful.
Def Jam’s Earl St. Clair sings on “Pure Grinding”, which shows a trappier side of Avicii. In this video, we are taken on a moralistic ride resonant to those who have experienced the worst of the Recession. No spoiler alerts here, but there’s a surprise ending.
Both tracks are available for free when you pre-order “Stories” on iTunes.
