The Scoop: Hot off the news of Zayn Malik leaving One Direction, the four remaining members Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and unquestioned “leader” Harry Styles have announced that it is time for 1D to be put to rest.
The Spin: Inklings of One Direction’s ultimate breakup were simmering throughout the internet once word broke out about Malik’s departure. The worst appears to have come for the group and their fans alike. The group had recently released their latest record, creepily foreshadowed by the name of Four.
We at MEB were personally stunned to hear that the group had decided to call it quits earlier this morning. Fearless master Styles took to Facebook to break the news to his redeeming public:
It is with great sadness that we have decided to put a full stop on this ship we’ve called home for five glorious years. One Direction will always be a strong part of all of our hearts, and we hope it will remain as such within you all. From our homes to yours, thank you so much for this journey. This was all for you.
With love and soul,
Harry Styles and One Direction
Scared and sad fans of One Direction have taken to Twitter to express whatever kind of deep-rooted sorrow they have within themselves:

Despite all of this, the four remaining members will carry on with their show in Cape Town, South Africa. Tomlinson tweeted his love and heartfelt emotions about it all:
News of a leaked solo track from Malik spread like wildfire amongst the Directioners, but was recently found to simply be an older, unreleased 1D track. Patience is a virtue, after all.
We can only hope that the members of One Direction will move on to bigger and better things, like solo records or a 2020 reunion tour.
Updates will come as they are made public. Stay tuned to find out more.
