The Scoop: Cape Town rock outfit Taxi Violence have released the first single off of their upcoming fifth studio album entitled Tenfold – and it is for free.
The Spin: Once upon a time there were two high school rival bands: 508, to which Rian Zietsman, Louis Nel and Taxi Violence’s ex-bassist, Loedi van Reenen, belonged. George van der Spuy was the drummer for the other band, Drain.
In September 2004, they put their differences aside – no one could figure out which band spat on which band. George finally accepted Rian’s invitation to jam with them in a storage room at Wynberg Military Base in Cape Town. Taxi Violence was born.
From this rose an unstoppable force that took South Africa by storm. Taxi Violence set out on a mission to spread the gospel of rock ‘n roll – and have been doing that for the past ten years. It is now 2014, and they are set to release a brand new album on 6 September. One that they think is their best album to date.
In celebration of this, Taxi Violence have released their first single off the album. “Beaten By The Gun” can be heard below. Tenfold will be launched on all the digital platforms and the band will be promoting the album with shows across South Africa during September and October. CDs will be sold at shows and online from www.taxiviolence.com and email@example.com, for any product orders.
