The Scoop: Post-hardcore stalwarts The Color Morale have a released a music video for “Prey For Me”.
The Spin: The song comes off their new album Hold On Pain Ends which was released on Monday. The album debuted at number 1 on the iTunes Metal Chart and number 2 on the Rock Charts. The album stands as a change in The Color Morale’s sound, while still propagating the anti-suicide message and the message of hope that has made them titans in the post-hardcore scene. Garret Rapp abandons his unclean vocals in favor of piercing clean vocals flecked with the occasional scream – this instantly channels raw emotion and authenticity into each song.
“Prey For Me” stands as a testament to this authenticity. As song, it establishes the theme of not giving hope and resorting to the suicide. The video depicts, rather harrowingly, people who are at the point of giving up. Several fans have lashed out at the video stating that it is “triggering” yet others have retorted saying that people can no longer remain ignorant towards the fact that depression and suicide is a tragic commonplace in society.
