The Devil Wears Prada has taken touring in a different direction this spring. Last Sunday, March 15th, they kicked off the Zombie 5 Tour, in which the Zombie EP is played in it’s entirety. Along with them are special guests Secrets, The Word Alive, and Born of Osiris.
Due to a few mix ups I missed Secrets, but I was able to catch the rest of the show.
I caught The Word Alive, as well as Born of Osiris and The Devil Wears Prada, at this past year’s Warped Tour and they brought the same energy to Rocketown. Vocalist Telle Smith was all over the crowd and full of energy. The guitars (as seen above) played off of each other in a very fun and talented way. The set included songs from their most recent album Real, as well as their new single “Play the Victim”.
Although their set was almost entirely dark backlighting I was able to catch a few shots of Born of Osiris. Right from the start bassist David Da Rocha came down into the pit and bumped into me. That’s how you know these guys are going to put on a good show. They have no problem interacting with the crowd and that makes for an even better experience. Their set includes songs from both Tomorrow We Die Alive and The Discovery.
The Devil Wears Prada has been performing strong live shows for just over ten years now, with no sign of slowing down. This tour features them playing the Zombie EP in it’s entirety. I spoke to multiple fans before the show and many had no doubt in their mind about purchasing tickets. The band recently returned to Rise Records, albeit without a founding member in Chris Rubey. Lead vocalist Mike Hranica seemed to fill this gap in a way by playing guitar on a few songs, but overall the stage remained full even with the loss of Rubey. Absolutely a show worth seeing!
