Bad Luck is always good, but the show in Kent was better than ever. Dominick Fox (vocals), Jake Kneer (drums), Joseph Fox (bass), and Steven Rodriguez (guitar) thrilled the crowded room with music from the brand new album, Noise In Your Head, last Thursday night.
Bad Luck’s traditional punk rock with attitude is expanded upon on the new album, showcasing the true musicianship and talent of each member. Dominick’s expansive vocal range is engaging and captivates the listener with emotion-filled lyrics. His performance actually lets the listener feel what he is feeling. Dominick shines on “Lantern Park”, firing off lyrics like a rapid fire machine gun. Accompanied by Rodriguez on acoustic guitar, the music is haunting and powerful all at once.
The music may have been brand new, but the audience matched Dominick word for word as they sang along with him. The songs mirror how we live, they are real and poignant. Lyrics from “Grow Up” resonate through the crowd with “You’ll be just fine” becoming a catchphrase for every stage of life. “Last Bus” is a tune that grooves like a ballad, but rocks with epic guitar, showing the growth of Bad Luck as songwriters and musicians. The only down side to the show is that it ended way too soon. I could have stayed all night.
