2011 has been a great, great year for music, the best I’ve seen since I started paying attention. With that being said, I can’t help but anticipate 2012’s arrival now that I’ve heard the first song to be released from fun.’s new album, “We Are Young.”
Never without the jubilant optimism that defined 2009’s pop masterpiece, Aim and Ignite, the trio have still managed to mature in a way that allows them to retain the youthfulness that the band is known for. Nate Reuss’ voice has never sounded cleaner, even after three full lengths. The beat is persistent and only more endearing once the piano kicks in, and the anthemic feel of the chorus as Reuss belts “tonight, we are young” over and over brings the song to a level that surpasses many of his previous songs, and that is saying something for sure. Never faltering and never staying stagnant, Reuss and fun. are absolutely certain to deliver a memorable album next year.
