You want decent pop-punk you say? Well here, take some! I Am the Avalanche‘s new single “Where Were You”, off their upcoming album Wolverines, does precisely that. They provide you with a hearty dose of bloody brilliant pop-punk.
This is one of the strongest pop-punk songs that I have heard in a while. It tears a leaf out of the book of sincere punk rock. There is no high-pitched whining or over-the-top theatrics to the song. Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco and All Time Low are brilliant bands but their music leaves you wanting something more. I Am the Avalanche provides you with that something. There is just something brilliant about their heartfelt and coarse sound. They manage to cram the feels into a heartfelt pop-punk anthem with more hooks than a fisherman’s toolbox and a huge sing-along chorus.
“Where were you when the lights went out?”
