Pandora can often be a wonderful means of discovering new music. For me, no station more so than the Girl Talk station. It has everything from The Roots to Daft Punk and a whole slew of oldies in-between. Speaking of Daft Punk, thanks to them I enjoy the soundtrack of Tron: Legacy much more than I did the actual film. After a few thumbs up here and there on Pandora and it played pretty much all of Tron Legacy: R3C0NF1GUR3D, my new favorite remix album. There’s plenty of great stuff on this album but I’m just gonna give you guys my top three.
1. “Derezzed” – (Remixed by The Glitch Mob)
In what’s the shortest yet arguably the best track on the album, “Derezzed”‘s infectious beat and screeching synths get a little more spread out and a lot more heavy. While it may not be as pulse-pounding as the original, this track delivers a more bass heavy, chill remix.
2. “The Grid” – (Remixed by The Crystal Method)
It starts off sounding straight out of Hotline Miami, then that sound goes to the background to give way to a lot of high-hat and a lot of synths. This remix takes the grand scale of “The Grid” and makes more suited for a discotheque.
3. “Adagio For TRON” – (Remixed by Teddybears)
This remix begins with a slowed down version of the original intro and then takes off into spacey territory. It provides just the right amount of funk while throwing some wobble in here and there. Of all the songs on the album, this is the only one that I enjoy more than the original.
