It’s that time again, boys and girls. Every now and then when the EDM station on my Pandora has been especially good to me, I feel the need to give you dear readers a “Greatest Hits” of the synth-laden sounds that come through my headphones. Let’s get things rolling then.
1. Krewella – “Alive (Jakob Liedholm Remix)”
You may have heard this tune before, but not quite like this. Jakob Liedholm takes the song in quite a few directions during this over six-minute long remix. What I enjoy most about this remix is the pacing, he knows just when to slow things down and speed things up as the song progresses. And that drop around the 4:40 mark – awesome.
2. Nicky Romero vs Krewella – “Legacy”
Bit of a Krewella kick this week and I like this one very much just the way it is. The vocals on this track are as infectious, if not more, than what proceeds them. The soulful tones of Krewella hardly prep you for the screeching synths that are to come. The juxtaposition goes rather well with the lyrics, a rare thing these days.
3. Nicky Romero – “Symphonica (BARE Remix)”
So, I’m now discovering a pattern here. It’s like when I hit that thumbs up button it brings me similar because I might also like them – and I did. So here’s our last one. The BARE remix to Nicky Romero’s “Symphonica.” This one brings the dub, letting up only for some strings to relax you before building it back up with a choppy bravado that takes you through to the next drop. It’s definitely one to nod your head to that keeps it fresh throughout the whole track.
