5 Reasons The Incredibles 2 Is An Incredible Sequel

By now, most – if not all – loyal fans of the famed first Incredibles movie have picked their prime viewing choice, thus ensuing the primitive watching of the now famed Incredibles 2. We waited 14 long years, in Azkaban as I so yelled in my own theater with my best friend, for this sequel. The reasoning behind the long wait which Pixar also knew was too long and apologized in a small “commercial,” if you will, before the movie even started was logical; Pixar said they didn’t want to force a sequel without a valid villain to really make a good movie.

Not going to lie, but this was one of the best sequel movies I have ever had the pleasure of watching. No, this will not be your typical movie review, but a list of reasons why Incredibles 2 is an “incredible” sequel. And so, read on.

Reason #1: Jack – Jack

Have you really watching this movie if you didn’t love this baby boy? The third child of Bob and Helen – Mr. and Mrs. Incredible respectively – has proved to be the highlight. He was deemed Jack as a homage to the saying “jack of all trades,” which was proved by the numerous amounts of powers he showed and probably hasn’t experienced yet. Between a small baby fighting a raccoon with superpowers he doesn’t even know how to control to Mr. Incredible feeding him cookies to become visible again, Jack – Jack will always be the number one reason this movie was incredible.

Reason #2: Gender-bent Roles

Mr. Incredible is very much a powerful man, from his uncontrollably top-heavy muscular body to his “I’m the man” ego, it was an intriguing change to have him forced to be a housewife, basically, while his wife fought the bad guys. He wants her to succeed, which is why he willingly puts himself in that situation. Not knowing how to do new-age math or how to fix a boyfriend problem, he tries his hardest to be a good father to his children. There is no better word other than “proud” to describe him stepping up and being a solid reason this movie was incredible.

Reason #3: Badass Female Empowerment

Nowadays female empowerment is nothing short of real and put into movies, but Helen is a badass. When she goes out on her own to prove superheros are good in society, she rocks it. She owns the Elastigirl title. Though she should’ve stuck with her old suit from the beginning, her riding that rad elastibike is what everyone is living for. It splits in half for goodness sake! That bike is unique and such a good touch for a powerful woman. Not to mention she figured out the villain herself. Overcoming her obstacles and owning herself is why this movie was incredible.

Reason #4: Relatability

Violet is the number one cause of relatability. How else would an awkward teenage girl handle her “boyfriend’s” mind being erased completely of her? Throwing her supersuit in the garbage disposal was the easy fit she could’ve done. Every teenager has been in that moment when they snort a long stream of water out of their nose when a crush comes up to them when they’re not expecting it. Her quick wits with her brother and her overall awkwardness are another reason this movie was incredible.

Reason #5: Currency of Electronics

The Screenslaver – as much as the name could be better – is honestly such a relatable villain. It’s logical to have such a wide variety of electronic screens to take advantage of and as a population, we are obsessed with our screens. It’s not a bad thing in the slightest because it helps reunite families, find places and things to do easily, and show friends what you’ve been up to recently. It was an easy choice to choose what kind of a villain to portray in that this is current and a valuable lesson, thus making it a great last reason this movie was incredible.

You’ve reached the bottom of the article! You’ve read all the reasons why this movie was fantastic and worth watching twice to realize the details Pixar added. I can’t express how much I love and will love this movie, so here’s a video of my best friend exclaiming her thoughts on the movie – and if you don’t understand the reference; that’s okay, just re-watch the first Incredibles.
