Kansas City Fell For White Reaper This Valentine’s Season

By Ashleigh Lee · On February 23, 2020

The return of The Church of Lazlo’s E.D. Party by 96.5 the Buzz brought punk band White Reaper to Kansas City, with supporting acts Los Angeles-based Aquadolls and homegrown The Whiffs to The Truman on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The annual Valentine’s Day celebration brings love to the city with the power of rock and roll. Openers The Whiffs kicked things off their power-pop vibes while breaking in the crowd for what’s to come for the rest of the night.

Psychedelic surf-punk Aquadolls performed for the first time in KC and won hearts over. The all-female band made it clear that they are not afraid to tell you what’s up through their lyrics and stage presence. They love skater boys, punk rock and their moms. Lead singer Melissa Brooks dedicated song “Hollywood” to her mom and took a video the crowd to send her.

Kentucky-based White Reaper has brought the garage punk vibes since 2013. The band rocked the city with hits from new and old favorites with a 21-song setlist kicking off things with “I Don’t Think She Cares.” They mixed fan-favorite covers like “All the Small Things” by Blink-182 and “Undone-The Sweater Song” by Weezer.

Check out these bands on tour through mid-March.
