On October 1, punk rock band The Regrettes brought their How Do You Love Tour to the U Street Music Hall in Washington D.C. with support from Greer. The Regrettes, having just released their second studio album, How Do You Love?, in early August, are no strangers to sold out shows, with almost every show on the HDYL Tour selling out. Greer opened the evening and with only three songs officially released, performed a set to which the crowd knew every word (the sad exception being their cover of “In the Aeroplane Over the Sea” by Neutral Milk Hotel).
Despite only having only one opener, the crowd was more than amped for The Regrettes set. Starting with the first song on their album “Are You in Love?”, the song played as the band entered stage with front-woman Lydia Night entrancing the crowd with her gaze. After having photographed the first few songs, I made my way to back of the crowd to enjoy the show and to my surprise found Dylan Minnette, dancing alone to the sound of his girlfriend’s band and having the most fun out of everyone in the room. Full of songs about heartbreak, being afraid to fall in love again and jumping head first, I’m sure everyone in the room left the venue re-evaluating their love life just as I was.
