We’ve Never Had a Drug Like Carly Rae Jepsen in Silver Spring, MD

There are few pop singers who I can genuinely do not get the attention they deserve, one of these people being Carly Rae Jepsen. Album after album, single after single, she has released nothing but incredible anthems for anyone and everyone to dance along to. On July 21st, Jepsen brought an unforgettable night of music and enjoyment to Silver Spring, MD alongside Phoebe Ryan for her Dedication Tour.

Phoebe Ryan opened the sold out show to a crowd who, to my surprise, knew just about all of her songs. The anticipation for Jepsen was immanent though as the people who follow her music are all diehards. There are few casual listeners in this crowd as the room shook with chants of her name for her to enter their line of sight. The energy in the room was electric as Jepsen took the stage, everything about her depicting that she was just as excited as them to be in front of them. She danced across the stage to “No Drug Like Me”, the second track off of her most recent LP, Dedication, laughing and smiling at the crowd between every verse. Jepsen’s more than lengthy set was by all means magical and I can’t recommend going to see her more.
