Initial definitions of “malcontent” provide us with both a noun and an adjective. While both basically mean the same thing, you have to know what you’re looking for in order to reach full comprehension. Pittsburgh heavyweights Amplifiers lay out either possibility and more on “Malcontent”, the act’s first new material in four years. Clocking in at just short of seven minutes, the atmospheric four-piece are stronger than ever, even previously showcasing their initial feats of strength on 2013’s Everything Obsolete, which was mixed and mastered by the brilliant team of Mike Watts and The Dear Hunter‘s Casey Crescenzo. Thrice comparisons aplenty, it’s safe to say that Amplifiers are presenting their definitive sound on the track, something that is not easily done for a band of their style (and even caliber).
