The Scoop: Self-proclaimed soul punk outfit letlive. has launched a series titled Renditions, where the band will be allowing certain vocalists the chance to take a song off the band’s latest full length album The Blackest Beautiful and alter a vocal part to whatever they see fit. You can check out a message from frontman Jason Butler, as well as the first installment of the series “27 Club” featuring Every Time I Die frontman Keith Buckley below.

“The Blackest Beautiful can be viewed in a few different ways. Perhaps, a testament to who we are becoming as an outfit. Or even the sonic aggregate of all we have endured, accomplished, and experienced as letlive. arranged in 11 tracks. However you choose to view it is really up to you. Today we’d like to offer up a new way to listen to “The Blackest Beautiful.” This will be the first installment of an unofficial series we have dubbed “Renditions.” Enlisting some of our favorite vocal performers that we’ve met along our journey courtesy of, well- music. We presented them one song off of our latest album and asked them what they would do with a certain section if I (Jason Aalon) never sang in said section. We asked them to explore with free reign utilizing their particular style and prose. The point of this was not only to share our gratitude and adoration for other bands/artists, but to work with other artists we appreciate in new methods of collaboration and provide listeners with an exciting approach. In doing this you will hear the same song with different artists providing their artistic signature in the same section. The contrast, we believe, will not negate any single performance, but enhance all of them.

Our first installment today is featuring our great friend and my lyrical superior, Mr. Keith Buckley who performed on the bridge of a song titled “27 Club”. An amazing approach was taken and we are greatly excited to present it to you here.

Thanks, Keith. That’s ll.ove.”

The Spin: If you dig what you hear above and want more, you can stream The Blackest Beautiful in full below. A phenomenal record from conception to conclusion, we highly recommend it. Be sure to stay tuned to out Facebook and Twitter pages for all the latest news and updates on this new series from the boys in letlive.

The Question:  What do you think of the rendition of “27 Club?” What other vocalist are you hoping to see in the future on the series? Let us know in the comments below!

I like to think of myself as a musical savant; if I learn anything new about music (or in some way relating to music) I stow it away within the confines of my mind. The more knowledge I have about the industry and music itself, the better I feel. Underoath is the reason I am who I am today. NCIS is the greatest show on television. Fall is the best time of year. Writing is my passion.
