The Scoop: Rock outfit Squid The Whale has announced that they have parted ways with frontman Bradley Walden. The band has also reassuringly stated, however, that they are not breaking up and will be moving forward. You can check out official statements from both STW and Walden below.
We have decided to part ways with Bradley Walden. This is not a total disbandment. There needed to be a change within the group and letting him go is more than a positive one. We apologize to any of our fans who showed their love and support with the previous line up. The last thing we wanted to do was let our fans down. It’s just a change that needed to happen. We wish Bradley the best in all future endeavors
I wanted to leave, they wanted me to leave. I’m thankful for the opportunities I had with them and the outlet in which it created. The past should stay dead, I’m ready to embrace whatever the future brings.
The Spin: It’s quite obvious after reading the statements above that the events leading up to Walden’s departure weren’t exactly the most amicable things that could’ve happened between the two. Nonetheless, we here at MEB wish both the band and Walden the best in their future endeavors.
On a side note, Walden did happen to indirectly reference post hardcore outfit Emarosa by stating “The past should stay dead,” in his farewell statement, which is one of the band’s more well known songs. This could (and most likely is) just pure coincidence, but any as Emarosa fan knows, they have been searching for a new frontman for the past few years now, and Walden would be able to fill that spot seamlessly. Be sure to stay tuned to MEB as we will be following Walden to see what his next move is.
The Question: What do you think of the announcement? How would you feel if Walden did end up fronting Emarosa? Let us know in the comments below!
