Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus, known together as boygenius, sold out two nights of shows at Brooklyn Steel Tuesday 11/6 and Wednesday 11/7. Dacus started the show debuting a new song solo before being joined by her band. Her warm voice filled the room as she enchanted the crowd from her 2018 LP, Historian.
Bridgers was next, playing an emotional set with moody lighting to match. Her set was comprised mostly of songs from the 2017 debut LP Stranger in the Alps but surprised the crowd by throwing in a few older songs like “Steamroller.”
Baker took the stage next, and the massive crowd fell silent as her voice echoed throughout the venue. Baker played a mix of songs off of her debut Sprained Ankle and her latest release, 2017’s Turn Out The Lights.
But the show wasn’t over after Baker’s magnificent headlining set — the three stepped out on stage together for an encore playing songs off their joint EP, boygenius. The music was deeply moving, aided by chilling harmonies with lighthearted moments between the three friends sprinkled in between.
