New York’s Reaper Records and Pennsylvania’s Cold Cuts Merch have recently came out and accused the owner of DeadFormat.net, Nick Endle, of conducting an online scam worth around $1,300. They claim that he has been taking payment to build custom websites then disappearing. Here is what they had to say on Twitter about the situation:
John of Cold Cuts Merch told Mind Equals Blown directly that he had been waiting on Nick to deliver their finished website since 2010, and that he was recently contacted by Nick and told that he would receive some of the repayment on May 25th 2011; as of the time of publication, that money has not yet been repaid.
A similar story was found with Night Owls Print Shop in Texas. Eric of Night Owls Print Shop told Mind Equals Blown that Nick was hired to do the programming of their new website, he charged them $400 and agreed to have the website finished within a timeframe of one month. That job was started on December 18th 2010, and as of the time of publication, Eric is still waiting on a refund. Nick has continually led him on throughout the process with various excuses relating to technical issues and family issues. Eric claims to have given up trying to get his money back.
While Nick has not answered our messages directly, he addressed the alleged scamming situation on the forums of DeadFormat.net by saying, “I have not disappeared, the situations are being handled, people are getting their money back and nobody is/ever was intentionally being “scammed””. He continued, “I am bummed and it’s unfortunate that these deals went bad and I am doing everything I can do make it right. But I’m only one guy and can’t do it right away. Patrick from Reaper Records has been refunded in full as of two days ago, and I am still working on taking care of the other two clients.”
Only time will tell as to whether these clients will receive the repayment they have been promised. As always, if you have any information about this story, you can contact me at: email@example.com.
