It’s been about two years since New York-formed alternative pop band, Misterwives released their well received debut album, Our Own House. The band is back with their new single, ‘Machine,’ via Photo Finish/Republic Records that couldn’t have been released at a better time for those who need an uplifting anthem that you can dance to.
‘Machine’ is a three minute and 32 seconds masterclass of what Misterwives embody. The song starts is able to weave a reggae-like percussion cadence, a melodic line where the guitar and bass collide to make a solid groove, and lead singer Mandy Lee‘s playful delivery.
The chorus itself is a rousing celebration of independence that is not only needed right now given the climate, will also surely be an upcoming staple when this song is performed live. Misterwives add little intricacies here like the trumpets that really makes the chorus stand out.
“Not here to lose, not here for you to choose/How we should be/‘Cause we’re not part of your machine”
About their new anthem, Misterwives stated, “‘Machine’ is a rallying cry to stand against a world that suppresses individuality and diversity. This song embodies the movement of celebrating our differences, staying true to ourselves, and always sticking it to the Sith Empire! (insert middle finger emoji)”
