The epic band from Waterford, Michigan known as The Black Dahlia Murder released their new full length album, Delflorate, off of Metal Blade Records on September 15, 2009. Fans of this incredibly hilarious and talented band have been thirsting to hear something new and brutal for two years. After a long wait, that thirst has finally been quenched.
The first song “Black Valor” drops in with the ever so badass voice of Trevor Strnad screaming gruesome and violent lyrics that will make any metal head’s blood boil. Strnad’s unique vocals always impresses me because of his incredible range for a metal vocalist and how unique he sounds. Delflorate features a new guitarist known as Ryan Knight who has replaced John Kempainen. Knight has added a “classical feel” and pumped up the whole sound of the album and his contributions are bringing the band in a new direction. Shannon Lucas beats the skins so well that it sounds as if they are being played inside your brain.
Delflorate is an enjoyable album for any deathcore nut looking for something to disrupt the peace with. One of my favorites off of this album is “A Selection Unnatural” because it is two minutes and thirty seconds of pure thrash and bash.
This album comes with a bonus DVD titled “We’re Going Places (We’ve Never Been Before)” which includes in-studio footage and footage from touring around the world, which I’m sure fans can’t wait to watch religiously. If you haven’t already checked it out, there is a video for “Necropolis” available at www.revolvermag.com. Overall, Delflorate is a fantastic death core experience.
