So Shaun White has a band – yeah, the “Olympic Gold Medalist Snowboarding Red-Haired Sensation”, as I believe his full title to be. He’s the lead guitarist of this fairly new band on the scene called Bad Things. They’ve already been signed to Warner Bros. Records and have a tour underway, but I’m here to tell you about their single “Anybody”.
“Anybody” is a kind of early 2000s-esque alternative rock song. White hits you with an uptempo guitar while vocalist Davis LeDuke attempts to serenade you while the gang goes “oh-oh-oh” in the background. You have probably heard this kind of thing a dozen or so times before. That being said, if you’re into that sort of thing, I think you’ll enjoy this song.
The snare/high-hat combo of the drummer makes for a catchy beat to accompany White’s guitar work. A bassline is nowhere to be heard, which is fine for what this almost “pop” song is. The one downside of this song may be LeDuke’s vocal, which at times sounds like he’s just not meant to reach those heights.
All in all this song is pretty standard fare for a genre that once dominated. I wouldn’t call it great by any means but it’s a solid, poppy, alt-rock song. Whether you like that kind of thing or you’re just curious what the band sounds like because Shaun White is the guitarist, you won’t regret it.
